The research carried out at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering helps create answers to the perennial question: how to make better use of human resources and those of the world we are living in. The program covers a broad spectrum, first of all, a number of technology areas, certain aspects of economics and environmental protection. We participate in projects within international bilateral agreements and European Union projects. Tens of research projects are partly or fully supported by national grant agencies. The high professional competence and reputation of Faculty members creates the basis to attract the attention of different companies and industries to solve various tasks of industrial design, product and production planning, process control, equipment maintenance, and to find many other solutions to problems of industry and society. In 2006 Faculty staff members solved nearly 100 domestic and international projects and 70 bilateral cooperation projects with Slovak and international enterprises. Involved in these Faculty achievements are 320 employees: 19 professors, 46 associate professors, 84 lecturers and 35 research workers.
New activities of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering may be a significant step in its further development. In the premises of the Faculty, the STU Technological Incubator was established. Initiated and supported by companies in
Nearly 19 000 graduates and postgraduates have graduated from the Faculty up to the present, and total number of 1 750 students have enrolled in this academic year.
The brochure is aimed at explaining on a modest scale what is to be understood today by the different Faculty departments and at the same time to be a helping hand and address book for those who would like to cooperate and to solve their own particular problems through joint research and vocational education at this division of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
