Pursuant to Other conditions for admission to studying in Bachelor and Master’s study programmes at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering STU in Bratislava for the academic year 2022/2023 updated on May 17th 2022 in compliance with Article 131/2002 Z.z. on universities as amended, additional information for international students is specified as follows:
- Providing a certificate on the completion of studies at secondary school
- For Bachelor studies, the applicant need a certificate of complete secondary education (general or vocational certificate that allows access to higher education) and other documents listed on the Faculty website.
- All foreign students must have a decision of recognition of a high school certificate. A decision will be issued by the Regional Office (high school certificate- scroll to the bottom of the website and download the .pdf file for info in English).
- If the applicant has not yet been issued with a certificate on the completion of studies at secondary school, i.e. it will be issued in May or June 2022, the applicant may submit it to the Faculty
- If the applicant does not have a certificate on completion of studies at secondary school and has been granted asylum, provided subsidiary protection or temporary refuge, the applicant may submit a declaration on honour and the results of the general academic prerequisites test (GAP), namely a SCIO certificate no later than the date of enrolment in the study programme.
The required threshold for passing a GAP is 50 percent. If the GAP test consists of several parts, the pass rate for each test part must be at least 50 percent, while in the case of the SCIO test, the percentile of each test part has to be at least 50.
The applicants interested in taking a SCIO test (GAP test) shall be informed about its date in advance via a joint email.
- The applicant for an undergraduate study programme granted asylum, temporary refuge or subsidiary protection, shall submit to the Faculty a copy of documents approving the applicant´s being granted asylum, subsidiary protection temporary refuge.
- Proof of applicant’s language proficiency undertaking Bachelor’s study programmes in the Slovak language at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of STU in Bratislava
Foreign applicants who wish to apply for study programmes in the Slovak language at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering must undergo a language proficiency interview through an online platform.
Dates: 13 June 2022; 15 June 2022; 26 August 2022
The invitation will be sent to the applicant no later than 7 days before the date of the language assessment interview.
If the applicant submits more than one application for different study programmes, he or she will go through the language proficiency interview only once.
The language proficiency interview requirement does not apply to applicants from the Czech Republic, applicants who have completed part of their previous studies in the Slovak Republic or the Czech Republic and applicants who submit a certificate of completion of a Slovak or Czech language course.
- Submission of required documents
An applicant who does not submit a document approving the recognition of completed secondary school education to the Faculty within the verification period may be admitted to the study conditionally. This is provided that they prove the fulfillment of the basic requirements of admission to the study no later than on the day of enrolment.
An applicant who does not meet the set requirements for admission by September 23, 2022, cannot be enrolled in the Bachelor's programs at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of STU.
- Tuition fees
Tuition fees for applicants with the status of asylum, temporary refuge or subsidiary protection have been waived, i.e. payment of tuition fees is not required.
- Accredited course Foreign Languages for Technical Communication – Slovak language
Students admitted to study at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will be able to register for the accredited course of Foreign Languages for Technical Communication – Slovak language as part of their free of charge studies during the academic year.
The applicants can to register for the optional paid course of semi-intensive Slovak language held in September 2022 (5.9.-16.9.2022).
